The Needles
Who would’ve ever thought chalk spikes could be impressive? A range of three gigantic chalk steeps, around 30 metres high above land pierce the seascape right next to Alum Bay. Standing shyly behind these strange structures is a red, white striped Needles lighthouse. Back in the days was a fourth shard named as Lot’s Wife, which broke off into the sea in 1764. It had a sharp appearance like that of a needle, and that’s how the name aroused. For a closer and unobstructed view of these ecstatic Needles, take a boat trip.
Striped Sands of Alum Bay
Naturally painted with beautiful shades of yellow, pink and gold, the dreamy Alum Bay shows off the craggy cliffs, a result of the natural seabed shifting which eroded 70 million years ago. A few million years later, the bedrock relocated pushing the sedimentary layers up, and those are the pattern we see today.
The Pepperpot
An unusual hexagonal tower, differently known as St Catherine’s Oratory, is a living fairy tale structure. It is the only existing medieval lighthouse from 1314. The story roaming around is that a wealthy landowner named Walter de Godeton possessed some stolen wines that were supposedly on their way to France when the ship was wrecked. Seeing the Church unimpressed, the landowner built a lighthouse for the priest to pray for the lost sailors below the rocks. The spot, however, has exceptional sightseeing, especially as the sun sets and the stars rise. Wrapping an arm around your partner and gazing the stars over the sea is a thought for the mind!
The Alpacas

Mottistone Longstone
The legit story behind the well-known sandstone pillar says that St. Catherine once competed the Devil to dominate the Isle of Wight. The Longstone at Mottistone is the one St. Catherine threw down in the contest. Not only was Catherine a saint, but had some muscle and strength enough to lift the four metres tall and two meters wide stone. The pillar stands tall as a memorabilia of the historic event and is the significant incorporation of a scenic country walk.
Ryde Seafront
A pleasant walk around the seafront that lets your hair fall at the whistling wind and gaze back at the calm sea! Such is the Ryde Pier across the mainland Portsmouth. Numerous magnificent beaches across the town will greet you with the holiday vibe.
Sandown Beach
